OAK TREE
The Oak, so much a part of our urban and woodland landscape, supports a myriad of flora and fauna. Will these much loved and familiar trees survive weather and climate change?
LIFE IN AN OAK TREE

Life in an Oak Tree illustrates the number of mosses, lichens, invertebrates that an Oak tree supports whilst the orange depicts the number of species that rely solely on the Oak for survival. The work is sewn with French knots to represent the data and coloured thread illustrates the species groupings: The knots are sewn on Irish linen with organic wadding for the padding. The quilting is taken from an image of the Oak Tree trunk growing in my garden. Life in an Oak Tree is mounted on reclaimed oak.
